Porto Turistico la Cala Palermo

From the fourteenth to the sixteenth century, La Cala port was the principal landing place of Palermo, the largest Sicilian city. Empirically, it was the destination of merchant ships that brought precious goods from distant lands. Traders deposited them in the nearby warehouse in the Steri Palace, where they were kept until the owner paid the duties. The Dogane square, with its Gothic church of Maria della Catena, still recalls the trade of the past.

Today, La Cala is a tourist port that calls citizens and visitors to stroll along the promenade. The proximity to the city's historic center has made the port a strategic point for our company GAIS CHARTER s.r.o. The sailing boats Aquilo, Notus, Harry, Fiodena, and Inycum, are moored near our base, where all formalities are carried out before the lease. Our colleagues Giuseppe and Nadia will take care of you and advise you on how best to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of ancient Palermo. Here, you can taste the delights of local street food, the "Panino con la milza" (sandwich stuffed with the spleen), Sicilian cannoli, arancino, and other delicacies. There are also wine bars with tables scattered in the nearby streets, which invite you to taste Sicilian wine. Palermo will enchant you with its monuments, churches, and ancient buildings if you are a history lover.

What are some destinations to visit after setting sail from La Cala? Castellamare or San Vito Lo Capo heading southwest.

You will find Cefalù, Capo Orlando, and the Aegean islands heading northwest.
